Introduction to Rheology for Paints and Coatings

Objectives

During this 3-hour distance learning training organized in partnership with AFPEV and AFTPVA, participants will be introduced to the main concepts of rheology linked to the application properties of paints (liquids) and other coatings.

Initiation

  • Any industrial sector concerned with the development, manufacture or application of paints and their ingredients

Engineer / Technician of R&D / Innovation / Laboratory services

Prerequisites: Professional activity in the field of paints, varnishes, inks, coatings, etc.

  • Technical and scientific issues of formulation, production and application of paints and links with flow issues
  • Main rheology concepts linked to paint issues: viscosity(s), shear, stress, thixotropy
  • Some concepts beyond rheology: surface tension, wettability, spinning, etc.
  • Conclusions on the contributions and limits of rheology for paints and their ingredients
